My candle burns at both ends;
It will not last the night;
But ah, my foes, and oh, my friends --
it gives a lovely light!

We're all in love with Sarah's new baby girl, Vivienne, who was born Friday, July 21st! They're taking a few weeks away from the store (mostly), but she'll be our best mini shop girl soon.

  1. Raw honey // A few months back, a friend of mine (hey Meg) tipped me off to using raw honey as a nightly face wash / mask and I decided to try it. I’ve been using it pretty routinely the past 2 months and love it. Raw honey is amazing at combating acne, redness, dryness, signs of aging, etc. And I thought it would be a sticky mess to try but it actually washes off so easily with warm water. Hot tip: buy a squeeze bottle, not a jar for even less mess.
  2. Little Free Library // We have a Little Free Library at the end of our driveway and I love the sense of community it brings, seeing people of all ages dropping off and picking up books from that little box. I’ve grabbed a couple of great books from ours this summer -- Hallelujah Anyways by Anne Lammott and The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion. If you have books taking up extra room on your shelf, stick them in a Little Free Library around you or stop by and grab your next read and remember to donate a book down the road!
  3. Dick Moby Sunglasses // I just bought a new pair of sunglasses from Dick Moby, who is an Amsterdam-based eyewear brand that’s making quality glasses from recycled materials. From their recycled acetate frames to the recycled leather cases that come with each pair, they’ve put impressive thought into each step. Plus, they’re branding is A+ (just watch their clever video on their home page).

Sarah's 3:

  1. As we mentioned, our baby girl, Vivienne, was born Friday the 21st! Everyone's doing great now but we ended up being in the hospital for six days. One little thing I was surprised how much we used was my travel sized Creek Baby Coconut Body Creme. I had it in our diaper bag to use for diaper rash but I ended up using it throughout the days both as nursing balm and on Viv's face and body where medical tape left her red and irritated. We would just stick it in our pocket on our way to the NICU and slather her up when we got there. Now that we're home, we have the larger size sitting by her changing pad. So far, it's the only skin product we've used for either of us and it's been so effective! We’re all stocked up at the store, so come by and grab some.
  2. Another thing we were blown away by during our stay at Mercy Hospital was the Ronald McDonald Family Room. I was discharged 48 hours after delivery but our daughter was still a NICU patient so rather than having to drive all the way home every couple of hours around the clock between visits or pay for a hotel room nearby, we were moved to the RMFR for the duration of our stay and it was such a gift. Totally free of cost, this facility has a kitchen stocked with snacks and drinks, a common area where visiting family can gather, individual bedrooms (with amazingly comfortable beds!), a place to do laundry, etc... Every evening an organization or family donated dinner and Starbucks brought pastries each morning. We were overwhelmed by the generosity of it all and we were only there a short time. I can't imagine what it means to families there for weeks on end. Such an awesome organization.
  3. While this isn't necessarily a new staple in my wardrobe, I've been especially fond of several vintage button down shirts in this season of life where comfort and easy access are key. An oversized black linen shirt from Grey Dog, a men's blue pinstripe shirt from John W. Cole's (now Walker Brothers) on loan from Rebekah, an old washed out denim shirt from Goodwill, and a couple others have been on constant rotation! When I'm ready for an upgrade, I've got my eye on this nursing-friendly jumpsuit made by our friend's clothing company, LATCH.

We've got another release of our Buffalo Summer tees in both white and black hitting the shop this weekend and we'll have them back online by Monday, Aug. 7!
